Disability Insurance
If you have to go out on medical leave, Newell Brands offers short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) coverage to help offset the loss of your basic monthly pay. Disability coverage is paid to you as a percentage of your basic monthly pay.
Short-Term Disability
Short-term disability protects a portion of your income in the event of illness, pregnancy or non-occupational injury, and is provided at no cost to you.
You are eligible for coverage after 90 days of full-time employment and are eligible for benefits after you’ve been disabled for seven calendar days. You may use accrued unused vacation or sick time during the seven day waiting period, if available to you. (This seven-day waiting period is waived if you are hospitalized or in an accident.)
Salaried (Professional / Clerical)
Disability Benefit: 80% base salary
Factory Hourly (Non-Union) / Retail
Disability Benefit: 60% base salary

State Disability Benefits
Depending on the state where you work, you may be entitled to state disability benefits. If you work in a state that provides state paid disability or family and medical leave benefits, your Newell plan benefits will be reduced by an estimated amount you are expected to receive from the state.
Prudential offers a Paid Family and Medical Leaves website to help you understand what’s changing and how it may affect your benefits—so you can feel confident and informed.
