    The Fertility Solutions program will provide those enrolled in a Newell Brands medical plan with supportive counseling and coverage for certain fertility solutions. Enrollment in the Fertility Solutions program is required before the benefits will be covered. If you enroll in a Newell Brands medical plan, contact Optum at 1-866-774-4626 to learn more and start the approval process.

    This program will be available through our medical carrier for employees or their covered spouses who are expecting a baby. Completion of a series of phone calls with a nurse can earn the participant a Newell Brands baby product reward if the expectant mother enrolls in the program by the end of her first trimester.

    The Back-Up Care Advantage Program provides peace of mind when your regular caregiver cannot provide care for your dependent or an unexpected need arises. Twenty days per employee per year are available at a highly discounted rate. Center-based child care, in-home child care, and in-home adult/elder care are available. Care recipients (whether healthy or mildly ill) include children, teens, adults, and elderly family members.

  • How do I register for and use Back-up Dependent Care?
    You and your family member(s) must register for the Back-Up Care Advantage Program to make a reservation and use the back-up care services. We recommend you register in advance so you are ready to use the Back-Up Care Advantage Program when you need care.

    There are two ways to register:
    • Online at backup.brighthorizons.com . The username is Newell and the password is Newell.
    • Call the toll-free number at 1-877-BH-CARES (1-877-242-2737). Care Consultants are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
    Care recipients can be of any age (whether healthy or mildly ill). This can include children, spouses, domestic partners and adult relatives, such as parents, in-laws, and grandparents.
How many times can I use Back-up Dependent Care?
  • How many times can I use Back-up Dependent Care?
    You can use the Back-Up Care Advantage Program a maximum of 20 days per year. Each time you use the program, you pay a copay of $20 per child per day ($35 per family per day maximum) for center-based care and $8 per hour per caregiver for in-home care (covers up to three dependents). There is 4-hour minimum copay for all care requests.

    You and your family member(s) must be registered for the Back-Up Care Advantage Program before you are able to make a reservation and use the back-up care services. When you contact the Back-Up Care Advantage Program, a Care Consultant will help you complete registration. You should register in advance so that you are ready to use the Back-Up Care Advantage Program when you need care.

    Once you are registered, you are able to reserve care for any dependent needs you may have. Reservations allow the Care Consultants to secure the type of care you need, on a specific day(s) that you need care and also alert the care provider to the specific needs of your family so they are prepared for the day of back-up care.

    You can make reservations for back-up care services up to one month in advance online at backup.brighthorizons.com (the username is Newell and the password is Newell) or by calling 1-877-BH-CARES (1-877-242-2737). When you need to make a reservation for back-up care, a Care Consultant will ask you a few questions to fully understand your needs, such as information about your family member, when you need care and the location where care is needed. The Care Consultant will review potential options with you and will make the arrangements with the provider on your behalf.

    Commuter Benefits allow employees to pay for work-related commuting expenses by using pre-tax dollars (up to an IRS monthly maximum). You decide the amount on a monthly basis that you wish to set aside to pay for public transportation (e.g. trains, buses), vanpool, and parking expenses.     This benefit provides a lump-sum payment if you or a covered family member are diagnosed with a specific condition, including cancer, heart attacks, and strokes. Coverage is provided by Metlife.
What does Critical Illness Protection cover?
  • What does Critical Illness Protection cover?
    Critical Illness Protection covers these illnesses and conditions:
    • Heart attack
    • Blindness
    • Major organ failure
    • End-stage kidney failure
    • Benign brain tumor
    • Coronary artery bypass surgery
    • Coma that lasts at least 14 consecutive days
    • Stroke whose effects are confirmed at least 30 days after the event
    • Occupational HIV
    • Permanent paralysis of at least two limbs due to a covered accident


    Coverage is also included for:
    • Cancer
    • Carcinoma in situ — pays 25% of your coverage amount. (Carcinoma in situ is defined as cancer that involves only cells in the tissue in which it began and that has not spread to nearby tissues.)
